yeah well, i'm back with another puppets on a custom order story (and also the christmas ornaments i was talking about in the previous post) after quite a long time..

bu ciftimiZ de yine tel iskeletler ve polimer kil (farketmeyenler ya da tam tersine farkedenler icin gelsin bu paranteZ ici aciklamasi da; modurit yerine polimer kil diyorum artik. baska seyler olduklarindan degil yani, ha modurit ha polimer kil. hatta evvelce mass dedigim sey de bu modurit'in [nam-i diger polimer kil] ta kendisi. neyse) marifetiyle yapildilar. dirsek, omuZ bel, kalca ve diZ eklemlerinden hareket edebiliyor (beyefendinin ayak bilekleri de hareket kapasitesi dahilinde), kendi ayaklari uZerinde durabiliyorlar. 20 cm civarindalar ayni Zamanda..

this couple here was made of polymer clay and wire armatures as usual. (in case you're wondering what i was talking about above within brackets; i was just explaining how polymer clay and modurit were actually the same thing.) their joints are on the elbows, shoulders, waists, hips and knees (the gentleman has another pair of joints on his ankles as well) and they can sit and/or stand on their own. and they're around 20 cm..

bacaklar icin son Zamanlarda beni en cok heyecanlandiran islerin sahibi lisa lichtenfels hanimefendiden etkilenip gelistirdigim bir teknik kullandim. ve icimden bir ses bu yeni teknigi daha cok gormeye haZir olmaniZ gerektigini soyluyor. efenim, mevZu bahis teknigimiZ soyle; eklemleri acikta birakarak hamurumuZla her Zamanki gibi kapliyoruZ iskeleti. ardindan ince sungerimiZle yine her Zamanki gibi eklem boslugunu dolduruyoruZ. her Zamanki olmayan kisma geldik simdi.. butun bunlari yaptiktan sonra bacaklarimiZin olcusune gore kestigimiZ bir parca penyeyle kapliyoruZ bir bacagi oldugu gibi (botlar da hamur, kumas olayi isin icine girmeden once yapildilar). ardindan da tenimiZin rengine boyuyoruZ. boylece hem eklem yerleri tuhaf gorunmeyen, hem de egilip bukulebilen bir cift bacagimiZ oluyor..

as the order owner ms. dilara's request, we tried to make the day (which you can see in the previous photo) eternal with some help from the costuming as well. in the unseen part of the photo and the unknown part of the iceberg, were these pink rain boots and this skirt with tulles. and as for the legs themselves, i developed a new technique based on lisa lichtenfels' works (which, by the way, are one of the most exciting things i've ever seen lately. exciting and apparently inspiring..). so here's how it goes, we cover the armature with clay -leaving the joints naked- as usual. after baking, we cover the naked parts with thin foam, again as usual. and as for the unusual step, we cover the whole leg with a piece of cloth (the boots were made before all this cloth business, with clay as well). after painting it, voila! you have you bendable legs without any weird looking knees. i know, it's not like a huge discovery or anything but.. still.. i'm kinda happy with this achievement. and just to let you know, something tells me that you'll be seeing this technique quite frequently..

ve bu beyefendi de her Zamanki eski usul yontemlerle yapildi. cok ilginc bir durum yok yani. pantolon icin kece, gomlek icin de eski bir gomlek kullanildi (bu ikinci el dukkanlarini fena halde sever oldum. hem kendime alacak bir suru ust bas bulabildigim, hem de ve daha Ziyade sundugu turlu cesit kumas opsiyonu icin..) tum sac, sakal ve hatta kaslarda gercek yun kullanildi.

and the gentleman here was made with the same old technique, nothing fancy. felt was used for the pants and an old shirt was recycled for the shirt (oh i',m really loving second hand shops, both for the pretty clothes i can find for myself and mostly for the fabric choices they have to offer). all the facial hair, including the eyebrows, were made of mohair.

well, now we're at the end of yet another love story. even though i believe that our couple is still somewhere between cZech land and turkey, let's finish the tale properly. so instead of 3 apples, there're 3 kg of raspberries falling down this time. and i'll be the one who gets to eat them all.. i just love raspberries, couldn't help it..

vallahi ne yalan soyleyeyim, aslinda butun bu proje bu yaprakciklarla basladi.. kendilerini kahve filtresi kullanarak yapip suluboyayla boyadim. kahve filtresinin cok kutsal bir islevi olmasi yetmeZmis gibi (kahve yapmak kutsal istir, kahve kutsal icecegimiZ.. kahve sen biZim her seyimiZsin), sahane de bir dokusu var.. velhasil efenim bu yaprakciklari masanin muhtelif yerlerine dagilmis vaZiyette gorebilirsiniZ.. dekorasyon, evet..

bu balkabagi marmelatli (fena halde uyduruyo da olabilirim, "yok oyle bi marmelat, sacmaliyorsun" diyen olursa da hemen "portakal marmelati onlar, evet" diyerek yan ciZebilirim yani..) kurabiye arkadaslar da masanin sol on kosesinde oturmaktaydilar. tabagindan marmelatina kadar her sey polimer kil marifetiyle yapildi..
efenim bu mumlari da daha once surada linkini paylasmis oldugum teknigi kullanarak yaptim. daha once denemeye firsatim olmamisti ama acayip keyifliymis, fena halde tavsiye ederim..

tamam itiraf ediyorum, burada hile yaptim aZicik. ama aZicik. soyle ki, burada bahsettigim sepetlerin icine koymak uZere yapmis oldugum elmalari kullandim simdi. yok ayol hile falan degilmis aslinda, elma benim elmam hem, istedigim yere koyarim. sonbahar elmasi.. kaseyi de kinnap denildigine inandigim (ama bu inancin da pek temeli yok hani) ipi dondur-yapistir teknigini kullanarak yaptim.

evet efenim, burada da masanin ciplak halini gormektesiniZ. sadece tek tarafi degil, 4 bir tarafi bu oZene sahip. basta daha normal bir masa yapayim diyordum ama bu organik ve biraZ da yaslanmis havayi daha cok sevdigimi farkettim..
masanin yuZeyini ilk olarak mukavva (ya cok komik bir soZcuk bu mukavva, her kullandigimda istemsiZce siritiyorum) ile sekillendirdim. akabinde cop sis parcalariyla bacaklari yapip yapistirdim. sonrasinda da ver elini polimer kil. masam pistikten sonra da once kahverengi akrilik, ardindan da eskitmeli boya ile de bu hale getirdim.. son katman da akrilik vernikten ibaret.. velhasil, bu da boyle bir sonbahardi iste..

cadili susler / witchy ornaments

efenim, boylece cadilar bayrami serimiZin sonuna gelmis bulunuyoruZ. yugunluklar ve kosusturmalar nedeniyle, daha once bahsetmis oldugum "n'olur biZi de araniZa arin" konulu cete de ancak iki uyeye sahip olabildi malesef.. ben de bir de agac susu yapmis olayim diyerek bu konvansiyonel hanimefendileri yaptim giderayak. evet, amerika'da sadece yilbasinda degil cadilar bayraminda da agac suslenmekteymis, bunu da boylece ogrenmis oldum..

and here we are at the end of my halloween series. lack of time and more than enough of rush caused me to let my "trick or threat! ..please?" gang have just two members. and then, i decided to make some conventional witch ornaments before it's too late..bu yukaridaki hanimefendi modurit (polimer kil), kece, dantel ve sentetik gibi gorunen ilginc bir yun kullanilarak yapildi. surati genel olarak hamurun kendi rengi, hafifce suluboyayla renklendirdim sadece. sapkasinin ucundan cikan ip sayesinde de ailabilmekte oraya buraya..

this lady above is made of modurit (polymer clay), felt, lace and some wool. the clay was left natural for the face and colored lightly with watercolors. and the loop coming out of her witchy hat lets her to be hanged anywhere..

Ozel Siparis Kukla / Puppet on a Custom Order

efenim, bir siparis kuklasiyla daha karsiniZdayim. aslinda bu kukla biteli oluyor epey ama haftaici firsat bulup da cekememistim fotograflarini bir turlu. bu huZurlariniZdaki de alper bey.

here i am with another custom order. i've finished this one a while ago, but i just couldn't find the time to photograph it durung this week. fotografta daha kahverengiye kaciyor sac rengi ama alper bey oZellikle belirtti saclarinin aslinda siyah oldugunu.

he has a bit brownish hair in the photograph, but mr. alper especially indicated that his hair was actually black.
yine polimer kil, tel, yun ve kumaslarla yapildi kendileri. bir de ekstradan cikarilabilen bir gunes goZlugu var kafasinda. boyun ve el bilekleri haric tum eklemleri hareketli. boyu da 20.5 cm.

again, polymer clay, wire, mohair and fabrics were used to make him. and he has a pair of removable sunglasses on his head. all his joints are working except for the ones in his neck and wrists, and he stands 20.5 cm tall.
bir de dedim madem hediye olacak bu kukla, bari elinde bir de hediyesi olsun kendisinin de. boylece alper bey'e de supriZ olan bir minyatur buket verdim eline.

and since this was going to be a gift, i thought it'd be better to give him a gift too. this miniature bouquet was a surprise for mr. alper also.

cadilar bayrami oZel II - halloween special II

eveet, cetemiZin ikinci uyesi minik cadi da huzurlariniZda. bu minik hanim da ayni balkabagi arkadasi gibi mustakbel bir "batinin kotu cadisi" olduguna aldiris etmeden cadilar bayrami eglencesine dahil olmak istiyor. ve fakat seker cantasi son derece bos.
eh, onu suclayabilir misiniZ?


so, here i present you the second member of the gang i was talking about, the little witch. just like the pupmkinfriend, she also wants to be a part of the halloween fun, even though she's a wicked witch to be.
well, can you really blame her?
yine bir onceki gibi bu hanim da biblo kategorisinde. hatta bir oncekinden daha da stabil, anca elindeki cantasi cikarilabilir, cok istenirse (saka saka, cok istemeden de cikar o).
govde, kafa, canta ve sapkadaki susler polimer kilden yapildi. sapka susleri ve canta boyanmadan birakildi, hanimefendi ise akrilikle boyanip mat vernikle kaplandi. goZleri icin yesil cam boncuk kullanildi. kiyafetleri cesitli kumas ve dantellerle, saci da gercek yun ile yapildi.

just like the previous one, this little lady should also be considered as a sculpture more than a puppet. as a matter of fact, she's even more stable compared to the pumpkinhead. the only (re)movable thing is the little bucket of hers.
her body, head, bucket and the ornaments on her hat are made of polymer clays, painted with acrylics and sealed with matte acrylic varnish, except for the bucket and the ornaments; they're not painted at all. various fabrics and lace are used for her costume. her eyes are made of dark green glass beads and her hair is made of tibetan mohair.

cadilar bayrami oZel I - halloween special I

efenim, ado (art dolls only) isimli toplulugun bir uyesi olarak halloween temali etkinlige katilmis bulunmaktayim. fakat tek bir kuklayla katilmak yerine minik bir seri olusturmaya karar verdim. serinin adi "trick or treat ...please?". oZetle, halloween kasabasinin, diger "normal" cocuklar gibi cadilar bayrami eglencesine katilmak isteyen minik sakinlerini konu aliyorum.
iste bu da cetenin ilk uyesi, minik balkabagikafa.

as being a proud member of ADO team, i'm attending to the halloween challenge. but instead of participating with just one puppet, i decided to make a little collection named "trick or treat ...please?". it's basically about the little residents of the halloween town, who want to have fun on halloween just like the other "normal" kids.
so, here is the first member of the gang; little pumpkinhead.her Zamanki kuklalardan farkli olarak, bu minik hanimi biblo kategorisinde degerlendirmek daha dogru olacak sanirim. Zira tamami polimer kilden yapildi ve tek hareketli kisim cicek teliyle yapilmis olan kollari. goZler icin cam boncuk kullandim, saclar gercek yun. sapkadaki orumcek de bir minik datel parcasi.

i guess this little lady should be considered as a sculpture this time, unlike my usual puppets. the only move-able parts in her body are the little arms which are made of paper covered wire. the whole thing is made of polymer clay. glass beads were used for the eyes, mohair for the hair and a piece of lace for the spider on her hat.

Zlin'e donustu, yerlesmeydi, yeni senaryo ugraslariydi filan derken anca firsat bulabildim. (Zlin yolculugumu da buradan iZleyebilirsiniZ bu arada) efenim bu asagida gormus oldugunuZ kuklalar dilara hanim'in siparisi uZerine iZmir'de baslayip Zlin'de tamalayabimis oldugum siparis kuklalari olmakta.

i've been carried away with moving back to Zlin, un-packing, working on a new script and all. so finally i've found the time to post this. (btw, here you can watch my journey to Zlin) anyway, in the photo below, you see the two puppets, which i've started to make in iZmir and finally finish in Zlin, on a custom order.hemen asagida ise kuklalarin sahiplerini goruyorsunuZ. dilara hanim'in istegi uZerine beyefendinin suratini giZledik.

and on the photo right below, is the couple. on ms. dilara's request, i blurred the gentleman's face.

even though the couple is in their summer clothes on the photo above, what i've been asked for was these winter clothes.
so what you see on this photo is ms. dilara with a red coat (which was also made based on a photograph of the real thing), jeans and polka dotted shoes on request.
i used felt and handmade buttons for the coat. it's also removable.

and as for the last but not least, here is our gentleman below with his coat, removable scarf, jeans and black converses. also, i used raw wool not only for his hair but his sideburns and beard as well.

i've been wanting to use glass beads for eyes for a long time. finally a few weeks ago i had a chance to give that a try. my first attempt was a failure, the beads i used were not glass. i guess they were made of an acrylic based material, so they cracked in the oven. but i succeeded in the second one, with real glass beads. and why this lasy waited so long -for weeks? well, i just couldn't find the time or encouragement (you name it) to make her outfit. also some other stuff got in the way..

"Gece kadar karanlik, karanlik kadar affedici..

Bu oZel hanim polimer kil ve bir miktar epoksi macunu kullanilarak yapildi, akrilik boyalarla boyandi ve mat akrilik vernikle kaplandi. GoZleri icin koyu mor (siyaha yakin) cam boncuklar, saci icin de gercek yun kullanildi. Kostumu, cesitli tuller, danteller, saten kurdeleler ve kece kullanilarak yapildi. Kumaslarin bir kismi kristaller ve dilksiZ boncuklarla suslendi. Mor kadifeden yapilan korsesinde de gumus tel kirma malZemesi kullanildi.

Ayrica, icinde tel iskelet olan bu hanim, omuZlarindan, dirseklerinden, belinden, kalcasindan, diZlerinden ve ayak bileklerinden hareket edebiliyor, kendi basina ayakta ve oturur sekilde durabiliyor.

Kendilerinin boyu 32 cm.

Tamamen el yapimi olan bu kukla, nev-i sahsina munhasir olup, bir kopyasi daha yapilmayacaktir.

"She's just dark as night and forgiving as the dark.

This exquisite lady is made of polymer clays and a bit of epoxy putty (completely hand-sculpted without any help of molds), painted with acrylics and coated with matte acrylic varnish. Dark purple (almost black) glass beads were used for her eyes and mohair for the hair.
Vintage and new tulles, laces, silk ribbons and some felt were used for her many-layered costume. Some crystal-like beads and micro beads were applied to some of the fabrics. She has a dark purple corduroy corset with silver cording.

Also, she has a wire construction inside which makes her completely pose-able. She is bendable from her shoulders, elbows, waist, hips, knees and ankles.

She measures 12 1/2" (32 cm) tall and she can sit and stand on her own.

She's completely handmade and a true OOAK (one of a kind) which will not be reproduced again.

stop-motion kukla siparisi / custom order for a stop-motion puppet

efenim, stop-motion testlerinde kullanilmak uZere yapmis oldugum basit ve temel bir kukla kendileri. ayrica ilk stop-motion kukla siparisim oldugu icin de ayrica oZel bir oneme sahip.
istenen, sadece animasyon testlerini yapabilmek ve biraZ da deneyim kaZanmak amaciyla kullanilmak uZere, cok detayi olmayan basit bir kuklaydi.

this one is a basic puppet i've made upon a custom order to be used in stop-motion tests. and since it's my first stop-motion puppet for a custom order, it's a bit more special than others.
the aim of the order was to have a simple yet appropriate puppet to be able to gain some experience on working with puppets and do some animation tests.

dedigim gibi, cok basit, sadece nasil hareket edebildigini vs. gormek icin yapmis oldugum icin bilgisayarin kamerasini kullanarak cektigim cok temel iki test oldu bunlar. o yuZden isik degisimleri ve oZellikle ilk testteki arka plan oynamasini maZur gorun..

after the puppet was ready, i shot two animation tests to be sure that the puppet was suitable for animating. he has two pairs of eyelids (one pair of closed, and one pair of open) and three different mouths (closed, open, smiling). and his eyeballs can be controlled with a pin, from outside (obviously). i used those features in the first test. and in the second one, i focused on the general body animation so i didn't use any of the mouths or eyelids whatsoever.
as i said before, these were the tests i've done just to see how he moves, etc. with my computer's in-built webcam. so, please excuse the flickering (caused by the light changes) and especially the moving background in the first one.

cikolata kutulari icin pecetelerle hasir nesir oldugum ara, yarimlik bir isik filtresine bir kelebek yapistirmistim. ama daha Ziyade grafik ogelerle beZeli, pembeli morlu filan bir seydi. sanirim sadece bir cift kelebek kanadi olarak bahsetmek daha dogru olacak kendisinden.. neyse. sonra buraya gelip haftalar sonra malZemelerime kavusunca hadi bi de cocuk peri yapayim dedim. planlar hep o kanatlari kullanmak uZerine tabii. gunleer gunler sonunda kukla tamamlanip da kostum asamasina geldiginde isler birden degisti. neden ya da nasil oldu tam bilemiyorum ama pembe-beyaZ ciZgili ve uclari dantelli taytin uZerine yaptigim tul etekten sonra her sey kontrolumden cikti. annemin diger boyalar vs. ile birlikte iZmir'deki evden getirdigi yapma cicek kutusu ilisti goZume, sonra da alt katta duran yapma cicek vaZosu.. ve birden bire bir yanda kanatlar bir yanda da bu minik cicek perisi ile karsilikli bakisirken buldum kendimi..

while i was working on those chocolate boxes of mine, i once glued a butterfly figure on a half light filter. that butterfly was actually a graphic one, just a pair of wings, let's say. and after i came here and received my supplies weeks later, i decided to make a child fairy using those wings. i started working on that, days and days passed and finally when it was time for costuming, everything changed radically. i mean, i was still planning on using those wings when i made her striped tights and the tulle skirt on the tights. but just after that, i saw a box of fake flowers which my mother had brought from iZmir with other old supplies of mine, like paints and stuff. and just after that, the fake flower vase downstairs catched my gaZe.. and then things just got out of my hands and finally i found myself looking at the unused wings on one side and the little flower fairy on the other side..teknik oZellikler icin yine dukkan bilgilerinden yararlanacagim;

evet, kesinlikle bu atolyeyi yapmaya karar vermis bulnuyorum. tarih meselesini de soyle dusundum, ya 2-3-4 agustos ya da 11-12-13 agustos'ta bir calisma, bir de agustosun son haftasinda 3 gunluk bir baska calisma olarak. katilima bagli tabi iki calisma meselesi, ikisi birbirinin devami niteliginde olmayacak ama, dileyen ilk calismadan sonra ikincine de katilabilir tabii..

detaylara gelince,
3 gunluk, gunde 7 saat surecek yogun bir program var ilk etapta kafamda (aksi istenmedigi surece).
isteyen, gerekli teknik bilgileri ogrenerek kendi tasarimi olan bir karakter uZerine calisabilecek ve atolye sonunda tamamen kendi tasarima ve kendine ait bir kuklasi olacak. isteyenin de karakterini birlikte tasarlayacagiZ sifirdan, ve o da yine atolye sonunda kendi tasarimi olan kendine ait bir kuklaya sahip olacak. isteyene de tasarim konusunda ben sahsen yardimci olacagim. yine butun bunlar katilimcilara bagli olan seyler ama bu uc opsiyon da ayni anda gerceklesebilir.
diger yandan, atolyeyi oZdere'deki yaZligimiZda yapmayi planliyorum. bu belki bir deZavantaj olabilir (yol vs.) ama atolye calismasindan sonra deniZe girme/guneslenme olanagi da mvcut tabii ayni Zamanda :)
ayni Zamanda, tum gerekli malZemeler benim tarafimdan saglanacak. tabii isteyen kostum icin kendi istedigi oZel bir detayi (dantel vs gibi) kendisi de getirebilir. ama Zaten kostum asamasi ucuncu gun olacagi icin, arada da konusacagiZ, birlikte karar verebilecegiZ.

bu plan dahilinde, gunluk 42 tl'lik bir ucret var kafamda.

dusundum de, haZir iZmir'deyken bir sure daha, sayet ilgilenen olursa bir kukla atolyesi yapayim diyorum. yogun tempolu olarak 1 veya 2 gunluk de olabilir, daha sakin, 1 haftaya yayilmis bir sey de olabilir.. ilgiye ve talebe bagli tamamen.. iZmir civarinda olanlar ve ilgilenenler bana haber verebilirse sahane olur..

Eriyen Dondurma ve Sulugozlu / Melting Ice Cream and Crybaby

uyduruyorum tabi, kim ne kadar bekliyordu, Zerre fikrim yok ama, olsun.
velhasil, iste, sonunda, kukla!
bu hanimefendiyi de yine tee cek cumhuriyeti'ndeyken yapip bitirmistim ama elinde kirim/boZuk bi oyuncak olsun diye dusunuyodum, hani aglama sebebi olarak. fakat o oyuncak bir turlu yapilamadi. sonunda dun dusunurken, erimis/dusmus dondurma fikri geldi aklima. haZir Zaten pastaneye cevirmisken ortaligi hemen yapiverdim bugun ve boylece hanimefendi huZurlariniZa cikabilecek duruma geldi.

here is a new puppet, finally! (as promised before;) )
actually, this little lady was already completed even before i left cZech republic. but i was planning to give a broken toy or something like that to her hand. yet, that toy was never made. and when i was thinking about it yesterday, i came up with this melting/dropped ice cream idea and since it's like a bakery around, i immediately made one today. and, she's now ready for public eyes..

yine polimer kil ve epoksi macunu kullanarak yaptim kendilerini. bi' dakka. tam bu noktada, teknik bilgileri hal-i haZirda yaZmis oldugum dukkanlardaki urun bilgisini kopyalayip yapistirarak vermeye karar verdim. evet. buyrun;

"Hani caniniZ fena halde dondurma ceker, sonunda bir sekilde bulursunuZ. Fakat tam ilk lokmayi alacakken dondurma kulahtan dusuverir (yeterince sansliysaniZ avcunuZun icine) ve buyuk bir hiZla erimeye baslar.. Iste bu minik hanim tam da o ani yasamakta. Oyle ki, henuZ dondurmaya neler oldugunun bile tam farkida degil. Fakat farkina varmak ve -bagira bagira- aglamak uZere.. Zavallicik.

Kendileri polimer kil ve epoksi macunu kullanilarak yapildi ve akrilik boyayla boyanip akrilik vernikle kaplandi. Kostumu icin eski ve yeni kumaslar ve danteller kullanildi. Icindeki tel iskelet sayesinde tamamen hareketli. El-ayak bilekleri, dirsekleri, diZleri, omuZlari, kalcalari ve belinden hareket edebiliyor.
Herhangi bir destege/yardima ihtiyat duymaksiZin oturarak veya ayakta durabiliyor.

Boyu 26 cm.

Her seyiyle tamamen el yapimi ve oZgun olan bu kukla, aynisindan bir tane daha uretilmemek uZere yapildi.

You crave for ice-cream and finally buy one. but when you're about to take the first bite, the ice-cream falls off the cone (into your palm, if you're lucky enough) and starts melting immediately. Well, this little girl is living that exact moment. She hasn't even realized what's going on with the ice cream yet. but she's about to get it and start crying -loud-. poor little girl..

She can move her arms from wrists, elbows and shoulders, her legs from ankles, knees and hips. Also, she's bend-able from her waist.
She can both sit and stand on her own.

She measures 10 1/4" (26 cm).

She's completely handmade with all her features, and a pure OOAK -which will not be reproduced again.


note 1: the ice cream cone in her hand is removable but the melting ice cream is not.
