(burada paylasmam persembe'ye geldi, affola. ama instagram'da daha zamanli davraniyorum ^_^) Zira farkettim ki diger sanatcilarin bloglarinda veya facebook sayfalarinda en merakla takip ettigim seyler agirlikli olarak calisma alanlari (neyi nereye koyduklari, neyi nasil yaptiklari, hangi malzemeleri kullandiklari vs hep ufuk acici, ilham verici) Eh, yeni studyoma tasindiktan sonra hic calisma alani fotografi paylasmadigim da dusunulurse hem studyoyu temiz/duzenli tutmak hem de blogu yeniden canlandirmak icin en iyisinin boyle bir cozum olacagina karar verdim. Umarim sizin de isinize yarar :)

Iki haftadir temizlemeye, organize etmeye ve derleyip toplamaya calistigim studyomun kukla alaniyla yapmak istedim acilisi.
Sag ust raftaki kutularda eski filmlerin kuklalari ve setleri var. Bazilarinda minyatur/prop yapma malzemeleri var. Alttaki rafta sol tarafta dugmeydi ipti filan gibi disik malzemeleri ve minyatur dekorasyon malzemeleri var. Sagda da taki, incik boncuk. En alt rafta ise firin ve dikis malzemleriyle boncuklar duruyor.
Masadaki mini cekmecelerde de envai cesit ivir zivir: iplikler, kurdeleler, igneler, kukla taki malzemeleri, kukla kiyafet susleri, dugmeler, cirt cirtlar, gozler... Hatta belki ilerleyen haftalarda cekmeceliklerin iclerini de paylasirim.

Hello there! Since I realized how I enjoyed seeing other artists' studios and work spaces, I decided to share a photo from my studio every Wednesday from now on. (It happened to be on a Thursday this time, sorry for that. But I'm on time on instagram ^_^) I find it very inspiring to see how they choose to organize their spaces, the tools they're using, what they're working on and how they're working on it, etc. Also, I haven't shared any photos of my workspace since I moved to my new studio and I thought this would be the best motivation for me to keep the studio clean / organized and this blog alive. I hope you'll enjoy it too!

I wanted to start with the doll section of my studio, which I've been trying to clean and organize for the last two weeks.
On the top right shelf, in the boxes there are props and puppets from my old films as well as miniature/prop making materials. Below on the left are the buttons and strings and some miniature decoration elements (filigrees and such) and on the left are jewelry making stuff. On the bottom shelf, sits my oven next to the sewing materials like zippers and beads. In the tiny drawers on the table, I've got all kinds of itty bitty doll making stuff like eyes, buttons,  jewelry, eyelets, trims, ribbons, threads... I might even share insides of the shelf-lings on the following weeks.
I will talk about the rest of the table with a photo where it's more visible :)

Little match girl / Kibritci kiz

 

I finally finished the little match girl doll. The main material is polymer clay, blushed with pastels. Her dress is vintage silk, hand painted with fabric dyes, cocoa, cinnamon and tea. More photos after the break. Enjoy!

Efenim 10marifet.org ve kartopu'nun ortaklasa duzenledigi kis temali bir yarisma var. Tam da "biraz da kis kizlari mi yapsam" diye dusundugum bir sirada duymus olmam guzel tesaduf oldu. Ayrintilar surda. Ben de simdi gidip biraz kiscilik yapayim :)

Maggie

As promised, here she is: Maggie the little steampunk girl. She's a 11cm mini doll with button joints on her shoulders and hips, but I used watch bits instead of buttons. The whole costume was super fun to make and it was my first attempt on steampunk. I think there will be more steampunk dolls in the near future :)

Ve soz verdigim gibi, karsinizda kucuk steampunk kizi Maggie. Kendisi 11 cm boyunda, dugme eklemli bir mini kukla lakin dugme yerine saat parcalari kullandim. Kostumu yapmak super eglenceliydi. Kendisinin ilk steampunk denemem oldugunu da belirtmeden gecemeyecegim. Yakin gelecekte daha fazla steampunk kuklalari gormeye hazir olun :)

Upcoming project: Steampunk Ottoman

Yep. I said it. Steampunk Ottoman!
First of all, you need to forgive the crappy illustration. It's been a while since I did some drawing, and not having even a mouse (let alone a tablet) didn't help with the colouring either. Anyway. I skipped most of the accessories/steampunk details in the drawing but apart from that, this is what I have in mind more or less.

I'm planning to make a steampunk version of harem headpieces (like the ones you can see in the collage, bottom row, third and fifth image) with gears, chains and stuff. For the jewelry, I think I'm gonna try to make a miniature version of a resin covered steampunk jewelry (image numbered 3) with harem style (the image just above the pendant)

The jacket will be a mesh-up of the image numbered 4 and the yellow one in the middle of the collage. I'm hoping to be able to make that hand thingie as well, but we'll see how it goes. And for the corset, I'm thinking about something like image 6.


Now, the real issue. Although I've gathered so many bits and pieces of fabrics and trims and other weeny materials over the years, I've never really tried my hand at neither steampunk nor ottoman style before. And I'm not sure if I actually have all the things I would need to finish this project.
Soooo, any kind of donation (fabric, scraps, trims, beads, old watches, watch pieces, chains... anything you think that might fit the style, really) will be very much welcomed and appreciated. And I'd like to send postcards with the lady to my donators once she's finished and photographed :)

Oh, also, any kind of advice is also as welcomed and appreciated :)

Herseyden once dandik cizimi bagislamanizi rica ediyorum. En son yaptigim cizimin uzerinden epey bi zaman gecti. Ayrica tablet bir yana mouse'umun bile olmayisinin renklendirmede pek ise yaradigini da soyleyemeyecegim. Velhasil, incik cincik steampunk aksesuarlarin cogunu es gectim cizimde ama iste kafamdaki sey asagi yukari bu.

Harem taclarinin (kolajdaki en alt siradaki ucuncu ve besinci resimdeki gibi) steampunk versiyonunu yapmayi planliyorum, carklar curklar, zincirler falan. Mucevherat icin sanirim 3 numarali resimdekinin minyatur versiyonu resin kaplama bir sey deneyecegim, tabii yine harem stilinde (sag ust kosedeki resim)

Ceket icin 4 numarali resimdekinin ve ortadaki sarinin karisimi bir sey dusunuyorum. O el zimbirtisini yapabilmeyi de umuyorum ama bakalim, gorcez. Korse de 6 numarali resimdekine benzer olacak sanirim.


Gelelim esas mevzuya. Her ne kadar yillar icinde bir dolu kumas parcasi, dantel, ve diger ufak tefek malzemeler toplamis olsam da simdiye kadar ne steampunk ne de osmanli stilini denedim. Ve acikcasi ihtiyacim olacak tum malzemelerin elimde oldugundan da emin degilim.
Yaniii, her turlu bagisa (kumas, kumas artigi, kenar susu, incik boncuk, eski saat, saat parcalari, zincir... stile uyacagini dusundugunuz her turlu sey acikcasi) acigim ve en ufak seyin bile pek makbule gececegini belirtmek isterim. Ayrica bagiscilarima da hanimkizin bir kartpostalini yollamak istiyorum bitip de fotograflari cekildikten sonra.

Ha, ayni zamanda her turlu elestiri ve oneriyi de bagislar kadar heyecanla bekliyorum :)
Etrafta gonderecek malzemesi olmayan ama yine de cok yardim etmek isteyenler olursa, onlar da yardimlarini paypal araciligiyla yapabilirler.

Chloe

Finally a post about actual puppets after long long time. This is Chloe. Completely handmade, including her itty bitty accessories. I don't really know how tall she is because I forgot to take measurements :/ But you can see her size more or less in the last photo. (I'll probably update this post after I measure her)
Oh and before I forget, she has joints in her shoulders, elbows, hips, knees and ankles.

Well, you'll have to excuse the photo quality. It was either this or nothing. 
So these are the latest custom made puppets I made. They're slightly bigger than the usual keyring puppetlings and their joints are made of elastic thread and buttons.

Eh, fotograf kalitesini mazur goreceksiniz artik. Ya bu olacakti ya da hicbir sey.
Velhasil, bunlar da son yaptigim kisiye ozel kuklalar. Anahtarlik muklalarindan biraz daha buyukler ve eklemleri lastik ve dugmeden olusmakta.

Yep. I've been making books lately. Lots of them.
It's either a fun way of procrastination or I actually found the meaning of life, universe and everything in book-making. Or at least I will once I have 42 books made ;)
I'll put them for sale on my online store as soon as I manage to take proper photos.

Yep, I haven't been updating the blog lately, but it's not because I wasn't working. Not at all. I just don't want to put anything here that's not properly photographed. Yes! I'm finally opening my own online shop free from the third parties. Actually, I've been meaning to open it for more than a month now but re-photographing the items, getting used to the the the platform and such are keeping things slow. I'm announcing this here, so that I won't be able to procrastinate anymore. Grand opening will be tomorrow, no matter how many listings I have.

Kuklalari epoksi macunu ve polimer kil ile yapildi, bazi yerleri akrilikle boyandi sonra da akrilik vernikle kaplandilar. Kostumlerini yaparken o kadar eglendim ki, anlatamam. Ozellikle Burak Bey'in t-shirt yakasinda ^_^
